Adam Taylor of ata won the Bay of Plenty and Waikato Regional Award for a New Home over 300m².

The judges said: "This project is head and shoulders above the surrounding houses, both literally and figuratively. It has a bold yet simple plan form, split diagonally across the site and shifted into two separate defining volumes. Beautifully crafted with a sophisticated wrapped timber cladding in a custom (ata) designed profile and offset against rusticated brick skin to areas of the ground floor, Pitau unfolds to envelope the site in a carefully cultivated manner that ensures open interplay at ground floor and maximum privacy via louvred cedar cladding above."
