RHYTHM & GREENS

Nestled between the lush greens of Mt Maunganui Golf Course and the rhythmic waves of the nearby beach, this project breathes new life into a cherished family home. Once a well-loved residence where the clients raised their children, the house had since become a rental, its memories fading with time. Driven by a deep emotional connection, they envisioned a refined yet relaxed Bach—a place to gather, to laugh, and to create new moments of joy.

A seamless flow between interior and exterior reinforces the essence of true Bach living—where spaces breathe, transitions dissolve, and life unfolds effortlessly between shelter and landscape. The result is a home rooted in memory, reimagined for the present, and built to endure for generations.

Performance is integral, with a compact footprint, high insulation, and thermally broken joinery reducing energy demand. Aluminum screens provide privacy and solar shading, while carefully placed openings optimize cross-ventilation—ensuring a home that is both efficient and timeless.

"Adam was great to work with and extremely personable during our recent major renovation of an old Bach. He understood our brief and worked to our budget. Within those constraints, his creative flair came to the fore and he came up with a bespoke design that maximised the location. Adam had the ability to allow us to trust him with certain design features that we would not have considered ourselves, but are thrilled with the end result. The communication lines between architectural designer, builder and ourselves were seamless which made for a largely stress free project."
